CES 2019: World's First Fold able Mobile Phone Unveiled

Cheers to the World’s First Foldable Smartphone! As for the sake of Technology, Royole Flexpai is a cool invention. It is introduced by Royole, a company that literally develops flexible Screens. So, being very honest, this invention is still so far from being called the good phone or even a tablet. Taking the foldable display in consideration, that is no doubt a big breakthrough. The main area of the company is to manufacture display screens, not phones. So, let’s check how good the company did with their most amazing product, Royole Flexpai.

Features and Overview:

Okay, so firstly I personally call it a Foldable Tablet that turns into a phone when folded. It consists of 7.8 inches OLED Screen which folds with the help of rubber bit hinge. The Unfolded Screen Resolution is 1920X1440 which becomes a little less than half when folded. The Screen Sharpness is somewhat reasonable, 308ppi, enough for a good and bright display.
The next thing is its hinge, which at first feels like a fragile one. You need a good amount of force to fold and unfold the phone, which makes you think that you might really break the phone trying to do so. Being honest, Royole did great in terms of making the hinge reliable.
Moreover, it is an Android device and its OS is named Water OS. The phone does not have an earphone jack like iPhone and surprisingly have a fingerprint sensor. I have to say this with regret that its Camera is really awful. When folded, the part of the screen that you are facing remains lit, the other part turns off.
Royole Flexpai, the world’s first foldable smartphone is available in the Chinese market for 8,999 Yuan. You can buy a developer version in the USA for $1,320 USD.

Some Improvements Required:

Royole Flexpai is a cool phone but needs improvements in various areas.

A Confused Phone:

I will try my best to make you understand what I exactly mean, or you could watch it in the video link ill give at the end of this post. The device is made by attaching two Smartphones by a hinge. When folded, the side you are facing becomes the primary device and works on its own. So the display becomes a kind of goofy when you fold and unfold it. The App icons sometimes overlap each other, sometimes the screen becomes upside down and so.
The most awful thing happens when you switch from landscape to portrait mode or vice versa mode. The phone gets confused and will sometimes even tilt the screen upside down.

Underdeveloped Screen at the hinge:

The hinge is pretty reliable but the part of the screen on the hinge is not so good. You might see dark patches over it. It feels like a low-quality screen or somewhat like the technology that we have already excluded years ago.

Touch Problems:

There is not much problem while you are using it in tablet mode, the problem comes when you are using it in folded mode or are about to fold the phone. You might touch several parts of screen naturally when you are holding the phone, so the problem is that you accidentally trigger so many apps that are really annoying sometimes.

Conclusion:

Royole did well with its first smartphone Royole Flexpai but it is far from complete. It needs so much improvement in so many major areas.
We can say they needed a spotlight and that is why they rushed with their product. We can say that it is a good effort by Royole and a big breakthrough for the world.
This phone is a good choice for people looking for some unexpected change and unique experience in their life.
